Gold Coast Day Tours to World Heritage National Parks
There’s a huge choice of Gold Coast day tours to World Heritage national parks in South East Queensland, including Lamington NP, and Springbrook NP.
Lamington NP is the largest protected subtropical rainforest in Australia, and has a large number of walking trails that criss-cross this stunning area.
Walks and other ecotourism activities at Lamington NP depart from Green Mountains (near the famous O’Reilly’s mountain resort), and Binna Burra.
The spectacular world heritage Springbrook NP has three sections – the popular Springbrook Plateau, the unique Natural Bridge, and the lesser known Mt Cougal section in Currumbin.
And the other main national park in the Gold Coast area is Mt Tamborine NP, which is located in a popular tourism area, with a range of other attractions nearby.
So if you don’t have your own motor vehicle, and choose not to organise a rental car, you don’t have to miss out on the magnificent scenery and stunning rainforest walks that are 40-80 minutes from Surfers Paradise.
Many tour operators offer half day or full day tours to national parks, departing the Gold Coast daily.
You can join a tour that will give you a taste of world heritage national parks and a chance to stretch your legs on a short walk. And if you don’t wish to walk, you can rest in the picnic area until your tour group returns.
Or you can join a tour that takes you on guided walks which allow you to spend several hours in the rainforest while learning more about nature.
Or, there’s a combination Gold Coast day tour which combines a national park visit with other activities - such as visiting craft shops, a local farm, wine tasting, or looking around the mountain resorts of O’Reilly’s or Binna Burra.
Ecotourism
Some tour operators are accredited by the Ecotourism Association of Australia and focus on providing a unique nature experience while helping visitors to better understand and appreciate the natural environment.
These are exceptional tours which combine bush walking in world heritage rainforest with education and in some instances, contribute to environmental conservation itself.
In addition to these Gold Coast day tours, some operators offer ecotourism tours in the evening, which take you to a national park in the evening to view glowworms and spotlight nocturnal animals.
Costs
Costs vary according to the type of Gold Coast day tour to world heritage parks that you choose.
Full day mini-bus tours are generally around $40-$60 for adults, and $20-$40 for children over the age of 3-4 years.
Tours for smaller groups (including 4WD tours), will generally cost around $80-$120 per adult. One distinct advantage for small groups is that the tour operator has more flexibility and can potentially customise the day for you.
Be aware that cancellation fees may apply if you change your plans up to 24 hours before the pre-arranged tour time - check with your Gold Coast tour operator when booking.
