Mini Golf on the Gold Coast

There are some terrific 18-hole, themed mini golf courses to putt putt your way around in Surfers Paradise on the Gold Coast. And kids (as young as three) and adults alike will all thoroughly have a ball.

Mini Golf, as the name implies, is a game of golf played on a miniature course. Instead of using a wood or iron to drive the ball as hard and fast as you can…

you simply putt your way around the course – hence the alternate name, putt putt golf.

Of course, the objective is still to put the ball into each of the 18 holes with a minimum number of strokes, but don’t be fooled by the name or the concept…

many an experienced golfer has strolled confidently onto a Gold Coast mini golf course, only to become a screaming, frustrated mess by the end of the game …much like on any golf course!

Although sand bunkers and lakes are rare, you’ll need to contend with a variety of angles, corners, slopes, water courses and bridges - all of which serve to make the putt putt golf game extremely interesting and challenging.

And if you play on a themed mini golf course on the Gold Coast, the obstacles will range from a set of zebra’s legs and Humpty Dumpty’s wall, to an ancienty mummy’s sarcophagus or even a dinosaur!

You can make it a game of skill and strategy by carefully considering and analysing each and every shot …or you can have fun just hitting the ball in the general direction, crossing your fingers and hoping for the best!

Either way, this activity is loads of fun for people of all ages.

Putt putt golf on the Gold Coast is a terrific choice for families, and is a favourite Gold Coast holiday activity of several of the young ones in my family.

Kids of all ages just love this game, and there are clubs available for children as young as three.

Or you could get a group of friends together and challenge them to a competition – loser buys the first round of drinks at the 19th hole!

Hours are typically 9am to ~10pm.

Duration

Allow at least one hour for a group of four to play 1 x 18-hole game (allow extra time if young children are playing).

Handy Hints

- If playing during the day on an outdoor course, remember to wear a hat and sunscreen. - Game rules are generally listed on the back of the scorecard, or on a signboard near the first hole.
