Gold Coast Vintage Airplane Flights

The romantic and exciting era of the vintage airplane and their pilots is somehow captured by the words of that immortal song, '€œThose magnificent men in their flying machines'...

Swashbuckling heroes; mustachioed villains and of course, beautiful heroines...

You may not have the cloth cap, leather flight jacket or carelessly flung white silk scarf, but you can still take a Gold Coast vintage airplane flight in a restored Tiger Moth and max out the adventure with barrel rolls, spins and loop-de-loops...

Or you can take the post-adventure option and gently putter above the Gold Coast enjoying an open-air, birds-eye view of the fabulous scenery, and get some great aerial pictures of Surfers Paradise.

Either way, you're in for the ride of your life!

Many of the aerobatics performed in the Tiger Moth were developed on the Western Front in World War I when skilful pilots used them to out-maneouvre the enemy.

Climbing into the cockpit of these wonderful aircraft, it's easy to imagine yourself as the infamous Red Baron, triumphantly flying the war-torn skies; or the notorious James 'Biggles' Bigglesworth, a fighter pilot who was victorious in many a dogfight during both World Wars, in the books by Captain WE Johns.

However vivid your imagination, or whatever your choice of flight, few sensations compare with the freedom of flying in the open cockpit of a 1930s Tiger Moth vintage airplane.

You'll have an uninterrupted view of the magnificent Gold Coast and Surfers Paradise; beautiful tropical rainforests; the spectacular coastline of South East Queensland and northern NSW; and perhaps the lush Tweed Valley and coast; or an ancient volcano. Preparing for Vintage Biplane Flight, Gold Coast JC

Although there's only enough room in the vintage biplanes for two people - the pilot and one passenger - some tour operators have more than one plane and may be able to accommodate small groups of 2-3 people flying side by side in separate planes.

Other Surfers Paradise Scenic Flights:

Or if the open-air Gold Coast vintage airplane is a bit too adventurous for you, consider the other ways to see the beautiful Gold Coast by air.

There are unique seaplanes that take off from the Broadwater near Surfers Paradise, to fantastic flight experiences that offer the chance to see the Gold Coast and surrounds from an entirely different perspective - although not necessarily in a vintage airplane.
