Excess Worldwide Family and Partners Policy for Australian Car Rentals
The Worldwide Family and Partners Policy provides cover for two Policy Holders who may travel together or separately.
The Excess Worldwide 31 & 60 Policies provide a single insurance policy, which covers the Policy Holder and up to six additional drivers' names on the car rental agreement.
If John Smith is the single Policy Holder, and is traveling with his spouse, Jane Smith, and has listed her name on the car rental agreement for the car they're currently hiring, then both drivers are covered under the policy. (And, in fact, John Smith could add a further five drivers to their current rental car agreement, as the policy will cover up to seven named drivers.)
If John Smith is on business/holiday by himself and arranges a rental car, he will be covered for excess insurance under the single policy because the single policy is in his name.
However, if Jane Smith is on business/holiday by herself and arranges a rental car, she is not covered for excess insurance under the single policy - because the single policy is in John Smith’s name, and he is not accompanying Jane Smith in this example.
The Worldwide Family and Partners Policy solves the problem in the above example, as it provides cover for two Policy Holders who may travel together or separately.
The two Policy Holders must be family members - defined as spouse, partner, parent, brother, sister, adult child or fiancé.
Car rentals up to 31 consecutive days are covered under the Partners policy (there is currently no option for 60 consecutive days). And it follows all other general terms and conditions, so continues to cover up to 7 named drivers,
